Welcome to YBMUN Chapter 2

Dear delegates and future leaders,

YBMUN is back.

It is my greatest privilege to welcome you all to the second edition of YBMUN, our very own intraschool MUN, to be held on the 27th and 28th of January, 2023. Model UN is a simulation of the United Nations, where member state representatives debate over world issues. 

My MUN experience began four years, way back in 2017, when I was in 7th grade, and I certainly don’t regret taking up that opportunity. MUN is more than just debating an agenda. Whether the discussion is about bioweapons or plastic waste, the merger of negotiation and diplomacy with an intention to resolve the situation that adds more weight.It is a lot more to just that. Having debated many such vast topics in previous MUNs, I can certainly say that MUN changes your perspective. MUNs are a great platform to socialise with your fellow delegates. It has been one of my greatest learning experiences; without it, I wouldn’t have been who I am today. Every human being needs social skills, which are something you may develop in MUNs.

This is the first time YBMUN is being held offline, with the first edition being held online on the 10th and 11th of September 2021. We are conducting this conference with the hopes of introducing our students to the world of MUN-ing and providing a training platform for all first-timers. We believe that starting with an intra-MUN may be only the initial push for cultivating interest in debates and encouraging more students to join in future conferences.

YBMUN’s seasoned and highly competent Executive Board, comprising of the school’s most versatile and capable MUNners, has put together an exciting array of committees designed to cater to delegates of varied interests and experience levels. To first-time delegates, please do not be intimidated; though it may seem daunting once you take that first leap, I guarantee that MUN will give you everything you asked for and more.
